Parish Giving

Picture
Thank you in advance for your consideration in giving to St. Joseph Catholic Church. We are pleased to report that our Finance Committee maintains its focus on supporting the staff, structures and supplies necessary for us to gather as a Catholic Community, worship together, grow our faith together, praise Our Creator and thank Him for all He has provided. We do this as a Parish, together.

The Finance Council Charter reflects their purpose to assist the pastor in the administration of financial resources, buildings and grounds. The charter lists the council's responsibilities including things such as recommending budgets, analyzing revenue and expenses, recommending corrective action if necessary, reviewing maintenance of building and equipment, helping to achieve the CSA goal and communicating regularly with parishioners.

If you would like to make special contributions, please consider the opportunities below:

Catholic Services Appeal 2026
The Diocese of Gaylord’s 2026 Catholic Services Appeal is centered on the theme One Bread, One Body, inspired by Pope Leo’s motto, “In the One,  we are One.” As the first American pope, his words call us to recognize the unity we share through Christ in the Eucharist. Nourished by the  One Bread, we are strengthened to serve together as one body, supporting the mission and ministries of our diocese through your generous  support of the Catholic Services Appeal. The CSA supports seminarian education, Catholic schools,  diocesan services that support all parishes, charitable outreach and many other essential programs that serve our communities. Every gift—no  matter the amount—joins with others to strengthen our shared mission. The parish goal for St. Joseph of Onekama is $33,527 (or approximately  $290 for each registered family). To learn more about the CSA, or to make a gift online, please visit DioceseofGaylord.org/CSA26. Thank you for your prayerful support and  generosity!

St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery
The ongoing care and upkeep of the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery lacks consistent funding. The Cemetery Board is currently seeking options for acquiring additional land in order to accommodate the growing waiting list for interments. Our source of income is solely that of private donations since all of our cemetery plots have been purchased. All donations to our Cemetery Fund are truly appreciated.

St. Joseph Building Fund
Most people think that the building fund is only to construct new buildings. But, the Building Fund provides a needed cash reserve to maintain our current buildings.  Think of it as a building maintenance fund. Things like new roofs, resurfacing the parking lot and furnace repair are common needs. With an adequate Building Fund, we can avoid special collections.

St. Joseph Community Food Pantry
There are always people in need of food, drink, clothes and kindness. There are routinely about 40-48 families who come to our St. Joseph Community Food Pantry each month seeking help. Families vary in size from 1 to 9. On average, we serve about 100 people every month.

We spend about $1,500 monthly for food and drink. Donations from parishioners, other churches, civic organizations, individuals and others fund our ministry.

Parishioners are only a portion of the 20 to 25 regular volunteers. Many have been helping for more than 10 years. Some have volunteered month after month for over 25 years. Our volunteers recognize that there is a need not only for food and drink. There is also a need for kindness, laughter and caring. Volunteers give with their heart as well as work with their hands.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Leslie Osborn by email: [email protected]
